20/07/2020 - ECC Sunday Group Spins
The Summer sun brought almost 50 club cyclists out to enjoy the good weather and some new faces too.
Several groups formed with most opting to ride the suggested route from Emyvale to Aughnacloy, Ballygawley, Sixmilecross, Beragh, Fintona (coffeestop), towards Fivemiletown, Clogher, Monaghan & home for 108kms.
Patsy's group rode from Emyvale to Glaslough, Silverstream, Blaney, Newtownhamilton, Ballymacnab, Armagh, Middletown and back to Emyvale. Another 100km+ route.
A larger than usual group of approx 20 riders left Sam's at 7:30am for the typical early loop. A number of these riders have clocked up an impressive 150km+ today.
Declan McEntee was the first of the racing group this year to compete in a road race. Declan travelled to Galway to compete in the Athenry GP on Friday evening. It was a handicap race over 4 laps of a 15km circuit. In what turned out to be miserably wet conditions, the A1/A2 riders caught the bunch and blew the race into 3 groups. The fast men won the day, but Declan fought on and managed to come home in the second group.
