The Mondello 24‑Hour Cycling Race is one of Ireland’s most unique endurance events, taking place each year on the closed motor‑racing circuit at Mondello Park, Co. Kildare. Riders take on the challenge of cycling continuously for a full 24 hours – from midday one day, through the night, and into the following day. Teams (or solo riders) aim to complete as many laps as possible, making it a true test of endurance, strategy, and teamwork.

While competitive at the top level, the event is equally about pushing personal limits, supporting teammates, and embracing the incredible atmosphere that builds across the full day and night on track.

What sets Mondello24 apart is its relentless nature. Riders must contend with fatigue, sleep deprivation, and long hours in the saddle, often during the toughest night-time conditions when both body and mind are under pressure. Managing pacing, nutrition, recovery, and repeated efforts makes it as much a mental battle as a physical one - finishing itself is a huge achievement.

Emyvale fielded a strong mixed team of six riders in the 8‑person category:

  • Dara McKenna

  • Fiona Gilliland

  • Martin Malinowski

  • Bernice McKenna

  • Patrick Breen

  • Paul Ryder

Also, a special mention to Tommy McCague, who was unable to line out for Emyvale this year due to a prior commitment with Armagh City Cyclists.

Tommy’s team delivered a phenomenal performance, winning their 8-man Team category, despite also lining-out with just six riders. Armagh CC also went on to secure victory in the four‑man team category as well - an incredible achievement.

Donna Smyth and Ann Bradley also took part in the 24-hour event, representing Cycling Ulster Women’s Commission.

Well done to all involved - an exceptional effort and a result the club can be proud of! 👏👏
