Strong Performances from Emyvale Riders at Dunloy GP 2026

Tommy McCague hits the front at the newly introduced Masters race at Dunloy GP 2026

Emyvale Cycling Club was well represented at the Dunloy GP in Ballymena, Co. Antrim on Sunday, with members Tommy Mc Cague and Dara McKenna both taking to the start line in challenging conditions.

Tommy competed in the newly introduced Masters race, covering one lap of the demanding 25-mile course, while Dara lined out in the C3 race, tackling two laps for a total of 50 miles. The course proved to be tough and testing for all riders.

Tommy delivered an impressive performance, making the decisive break and riding strongly to secure an excellent 4th place overall in the Masters category.

In the C3 race, Dara was involved in a tightly contested event, with several breakaway attempts throughout. However, the bunch worked hard to bring everything back together. A late move by two riders with approximately 10 miles remaining ultimately proved decisive, as they held on to the finish. Dara rode consistently throughout and came home safely with the main bunch. The race was not without incident, as a significant crash on the second lap saw around 10 riders come down.

It is fantastic to see Tommy back racing again, and he continues to build momentum with regular participation in the Newry Wheelers league on Tuesday evenings.
