A huge well done to Tommy McCague and Derek McCarville on successfully completing the legendary Marmotte Granfondo Alpes today — an absolutely phenomenal achievement.

Taking on one of the toughest one-day sportives in the world is no small feat. Covering 177km across four iconic Alpine cols with a staggering 5,500 metres of climbing, the Marmotte is a true test of endurance, strength, and mental resilience.

To make things even tougher, both riders had to battle scorching temperatures reaching up to 40°C in France, turning it into a brutally demanding day in the saddle. The extreme heat led to a high number of DNFs, making their achievement all the more impressive.

Battling through the famous climbs, relentless heat, and long hours on the bike, Tommy and Derek have shown remarkable determination and grit — representing Emyvale Cycling Club with pride on one of cycling’s biggest stages.
