Thinking about getting into cycling but not sure where to start?  The Women’s Social Spin with Emyvale Cycling Club on Saturday 7th March 2026 is the perfect taster session for complete beginners who want to experience cycling in a relaxed, welcoming environment.  The spin is women only, paced for comfort, and led by experienced cycling coaches — ideal if you’re new, returning after a break, or simply looking for friendly company on the bike.  

 

Who’s behind the spin? 

This one day event is a collaboration between Monaghan Sports Partnership and Emyvale Cycling Club, bringing together local coaching expertise and a supportive community to help you enjoy your first group ride.  

 

What to expect 

  • A gentle, fitness focused outing with an emphasis on fun and confidence building — no racing and no pressure.  

  • Qualified, friendly coaches to guide the group, answer questions, and share tips on gears, group riding, and road etiquette.  

  • Complimentary tea & coffee at the finish — a perfect chance to chat, swap tips, and meet fellow riders.  

 

What you’ll need 

Bring your own bike (in good working order) and a helmet — these are essential for taking part.  Comfortable clothing and a light jacket are recommended; gloves and a bottle of water are handy too.

Starting with a supportive, women-only group can make a huge difference to confidence and enjoyment.  You’ll learn the basics of group riding, share the road with others at a comfortable pace, and discover new local routes - all while building fitness and having fun.  With Emyvale Cycling Club coaches on hand and Monaghan Sports Partnership coordinating, you’ll be in good company from rollout to coffee stop.
