Racing round‑up: Lucan GP 2026

Dara McKenna and Declan McEntee were in action at the Lucan GP 2026, held on the fast and familiar circuit around Dunsany, Co. Meath. Dara lined up in the C3 race, while Declan lined up in the C2 category.
The C2 race covered 5.5 laps (98km) and set off at a fierce pace. A strong break went clear early, including a name well known in Emyvale — Neil Delahaye, the reigning 2025 National Masters Champion, crowned last August in Monaghan. The break was eventually reeled in with just 2km to go, setting up a hectic bunch sprint. Declan held his position well and rolled in with the main group, finishing comfortably inside the top 20.

In the C3 race, covering 4.5 laps (80km), a break slipped away on lap two and managed to stay away to the end, stretching their lead to over a minute. Dara dug deep in the bunch behind, getting properly stuck into the sprint and finishing strong. The race was ultimately won by a talented junior rider from Orwell Wheelers.

Cold but dry weather made for perfect racing conditions, and both Dara and Declan put in tough, committed performances. A solid day out for the Emyvale lads — well raced, well finished, and great to see the colours represented at the front end of racing again.
