On Saturday 4th July, Emyvale Cycling Club members Adam Murray and Fiona Gilliland successfully completed the renowned Ring of Kerry Sportive, covering an impressive 170-kilometre route through some of Ireland's most spectacular scenery.

The challenge began under less-than-ideal weather conditions, with rain and overcast skies greeting participants as they rolled out onto the roads of County Kerry. However, as the day progressed, conditions improved dramatically, allowing Adam and Fiona to enjoy the stunning landscapes, mountain vistas, and coastal scenery that make the Ring of Kerry one of Ireland's premier cycling events.

Completing a 170km sportive is a significant achievement that requires months of preparation, dedication, and resilience. The duo rose to the challenge admirably, representing Emyvale Cycling Club with determination and enthusiasm throughout the event.

This year's ride was made even more meaningful through its connection to Breakthrough Cancer Research, with Adam and Fiona raising awareness and support for the charity. Both riders expressed their gratitude for the incredible encouragement received from family, friends, club members, and the wider community. The generous donations and messages of support provided extra motivation throughout the long day in the saddle.
