Highlights from the Emyvale CC Grand Prix 2026 - Perfect conditions, thrilling Racing

The Emyvale Cycling Club Grand Prix returned to the challenging Ardaghey Circuit on Sunday, 23 August, attracting riders from across Ireland for a fantastic day of competitive racing. Blessed with excellent weather and strong participation across all categories, the event delivered exciting racing from start to finish.

From the opening laps, the pace was relentless, with riders pushing hard on the demanding circuit and spectators treated to thrilling contests across the C1/C2, C3, Women's and Masters races.



C1/C2 Race
The feature race of the day culminated in a fast and exciting sprint finish. Ciaran Maguire (Team Dan Morrissey) showed his strength at the line to claim victory ahead of Dean Harvey (McConvey Cycling), while Lindsay Watson (Caldwell Powerhouse Racing) secured third place after a strong performance throughout the race.

C3 Race
The C3 riders stayed closely grouped for much of their race, setting up an exciting finish. Ihnatii Melnyk (Bray Wheelers) emerged victorious, with Seamus Babington (Panduit Carrick Wheelers) taking second and Jamie Franklin (VC Glendale) rounding out the podium.

Masters Race
The Masters category attracted riders from near and far, highlighting the popularity of the event. After a competitive race, Tony Pryce (DB Cycling) took the win ahead of Patrick Ennis (Unattached Leinster) in second and Brendan Kiernan (Lakeside Wheelers Mullingar) in third.

Strong support from across Ireland
It was wonderful to welcome riders from many counties and provinces to Emyvale for this year's event. The strong turnout helped create a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day and showcased the continued growth of competitive cycling across the country.
The Masters race in particular saw competitors travel significant distances to compete. Emyvale Cycling Club hopes to see this category continue to grow in future years and encourages even more riders to take part in what has become a highlight of the local racing calendar.
The excellent turnout, combined with ideal racing conditions, ensured another memorable day for cycling in County Monaghan.
