Emyvale Cycling Club at the Ulster Road Race Championships 2026
Sunday 6th September 2026
The 2026 Ulster Road Race Championships delivered everything riders could expect from a championship event: a demanding course, relentless pace, challenging weather conditions, and fierce competition from start to finish.
Held on Sunday, 6th September and expertly organised by Armagh Cycling Club, the championship attracted more than 80 riders from across the province. Competitors faced not only a testing route but also strong winds and punishing crosswinds that turned an already difficult race into a true examination of fitness, tactics, and determination.

Representing Emyvale Cycling Club, Dara McKenna lined up for the Masters race knowing that every kilometre would demand focus and resilience. The championship course, renowned for its challenging terrain, offered little opportunity for recovery as attacks flew from the flag drop and riders fought for position throughout the day.
From the opening kilometres, the pace was relentless. Riders repeatedly launched attacks in an effort to split the field, while the wind constantly threatened to create gaps and echelons. Staying in contention required both physical strength and tactical awareness.
Drawing on extensive experience and familiarity with roads similar to those on the championship circuit, Dara rode a measured and intelligent race. Remaining firmly in the bunch during the most difficult phases of the event, Dara managed the changing race dynamics effectively and produced a strong finish after a hard day's racing.
The championship was also a credit to the organisers. cArmagh Cycling Club stepped in to host the final Ulster Road Race Championship of 2026 at short notice and delivered an event of the highest standard. From the extensive marshal presence on the course to the well-run finish area and welcoming post-race reception, every aspect of the day reflected the commitment and professionalism of the organising team.

For Emyvale Cycling Club, Dara's performance was another example of the determination and competitive spirit that continues to define the club's riders. Competing in one of the toughest races on the Ulster calendar and finishing strongly against a large and talented field is an achievement to be proud of.
Congratulations to Dara McKenna on a fine ride and sincere thanks to Armagh Cycling Club for hosting an outstanding championship event.
